Amsterdam is the largest, most populous, capital city of the Netherlands situated in the province of North Holland. It is famous for canals, ship docks, houseboats, and a stunning architectural mix of old and contemporary built on wooden poles.

It is considered as an extremely beautiful and romantic European city with 165 canals forming a well-connected canal network, which is an indispensable part of the city's urban planning. Three big channels linked by small radial streets and canals form a network.

The city is diverse with a rich culture, vivacious nightlife, good transport system, international restaurants, with over 20,000,000 tourists and day-trippers flocking the city every year, yet it is quiet with little road traffic mainly because of the canals.

There are 1281 bridges and 80 of which are in the heart of the city. Magere Brug or the Skinny Bridge is the most famous bridge along with the Bridge of 15 Bridges which is formed by the crossing of Reguliersgracht and Herengracht.

In Amsterdam, no destination is far away, you can enjoy a bike ride for an authentic feel and visit the attractive neighboring towns and villages. Begin exploring Amsterdam with a map to get around, where to go and enjoy cruising along the historic canals while you're there.

The Amsterdam Stock Exchange is world’s oldest stock exchange as early as the 17th century. Some other main attractions include the Amsterdam Museum, Anne Frank House, Hermitage Amsterdam, the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, and its red-light district.

It is well-known for ‘coffee shops’ to buy different types of cannabis or weed which attracts over 5 million visitors annually.

The city is one of the major gateways into Europe and the touristic value is very high. The coverage goes from the Rembrandt Park in the west to the harbour in the east, and from the large Volkstuin Park in the north to below Vondels Park in the south. All the tram lines are shown, as well as rail tracks and the Metro lines, hotels, restaurants, museums, and attractions.

As a bonus, we have included a list of the city’s top attractions. The reverse side contains a detailed travel map of the Netherlands. By the shape of the country, this includes a portion of northern Belgium as far south as Brussels.

Due to the rather densely populated nature of the country, our ability to show historic sites and attractions has been somewhat limited, but we are doing something on this map that I’ve never seen on any other map showing all the windmills that are so closely related to the Dutch heritage! All the motorways and main highways are shown, of course, and we have included a list of top attractions. The map is printed on waterproof stone paper for durability and is biodegradable.
