    Kenya - Travel Video.
DVD. 7 Days. 52 Minutes. Kenya, `Kingdom of the Golden Sun' and home of the safari, is one of the world's most fascinating tourist destinations, with its amazing contrasts of jungle, desert, water, snow-covered peaks and green hills. Nairobi features several leisure parks plus the National Museum which offers a good overview of the country's history. The Carnivore Restaurant is also worth a visit and features the many varieties of meat that are to be found in Kenya, cooked to perfection! One of the many lakes in The Great Rift Valley is Lake Naivasha, on the shores of which Joy Adamson raised Elsa the lioness, and her cubs, for the film, `Born Free.' Lake Nakuru is home to countless thousands of birds and British ornithologist Peter Scott referred to it as `The largest ornithological spectacle on Earth.' Lake Bogoria is favored by tens of thousands of pink flamingos, attracted to the many kinds of algae created by the lake's mineral content. The animal-rich Massai Mara, what could be glibly described as `Hollywood's idea of Africa,' is home to the tall and proud Masai people who live in small villages known as Kraals. It also accommodates the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros. Crocodiles and hippos also lurk. At the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro is the Amboseli National Park; its savannah is not only abundant with elephant, but also a spacious backdrop for the spectacular Masai Mara game reserve? Just one part of the kaleidoscope that is Kenya.

The Massai live in `kraals', low, igloo-shaped huts erected only by the females of the tribe and made from twigs, grass and a mixture of cow dung and mud. The huts are divided into a children's room where the young Massai spend the night with new born calves and lambs, There is also a combined living and sleeping area that is also used for cooking. Crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, hyenas, lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, this nature reserve is home to all of them. The most species-rich savanna grassland on Earth, and its legendary wilderness, provide a fascinating glimpse into a wonder world of nature, a remarkable harmony of wild animals and wonderful landscapes beneath huge African skies. DVD. Nature Wonders. 10 Minutes. Lake Naivasha, approximately 100 kilometres distant from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, is the larger of two extraordinary freshwater lakes within the Great Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha covers an area of 250 square kilometres. Its waters are cold but with a maximum depth of only fifteen metres, relatively shallow. The biosphere of Lake Naivasha is of great ecological importance for the wildlife of Rift Valley and the landscape is of particular interest to ornithologists. To date, around 350 bird species have been recorded, among them are rare and spectacular varieties such as Marabus and Cormorants. The lake's huge quantities of fish attract a large number of seabirds, most notably the Pelican, that has seemed to have taken a liking to the second largest freshwater lake in Kenya. The nesting places along the shores of Lake Naivasha are mostly located high up in the trees and are very popular with both the indigenous birds and many migratory varieties. This region became world famous after Joy Adamson, a British artist and nature conservationist, wrote a famous book about lions that was subsequently made into a film, 'Elsa the Lioness'.
