The Kiowa people of the open plains of Oklahoma, southern Kansas, and Texas panhandle, were probably among the first tribes of the Plains to acquire the horse. Unlike Sioux music, Kiowa songs are distinguished by narrowness of melodic range and lack of drums, whistles, or accompaniment. This song collection includes songs typical of Plains Indians such as Sun Dance, War Dance, and Ghost Dance songs as well as songs of legend, Christian prayer, and peyote. Rare recordings from the Library of Congress Archives of Folk Culture. 37 minutes and 21-page booklet. - $24.95 + $5.80 p&h or $12.80 foreign delivery
