Rick Steves' Greece, Turkey, Israel, and Egypt 2000-2007 - Travel Video - DVD.

Eight Shows: 4 hours, closed captioned, NTSC format, all region compatible.

Here's where we'll take you...

Athens and the Peloponnese — Viewers will get familiar with the old port of Nafplio and explore the Peloponnese Peninsula before plunging into frenetic, sprawling Athens. They'll look at the ruins of Olympia, the best preserved ancient theater at Epidauros and the ancient capital of Mycenae. Then, seeing beyond the crowded streets of Athens, we return to the city's incredible historic core. Our journey to ancient Greece means climbing to the majestic Acropolis, visiting the National Archeological Museum and exploring a centuries-old market. Also,we sample retsina wine, eat scrumptious Greek specialties, learn a Greek dance in the Plaka and sleep in the old town.

Greek Islands — The Greek Islands' sunny climate, great beaches and relaxed culture attracts travelers from all corners. Island hopping on the Aegean ferries, we visit touristy, exotic Santorini (starting with an island bus tour), ride a motorbike around Samos, and hang out on the barely-known island of Lipsi where we sample the local cuisine. We stroll on an out-of-the-way black sand beach. Other quiet moments include visiting peaceful Spiliani Monastery, the ancient ruins of Akroteri and the Temple of Hera. With tips from the tourist office, we find offbeat and fun ways to island hop and our own picturesque places to stay.

Istanbul — At Europe's gateway to Asia, we explore the historic, crowded city of Istanbul. We get lost in the Grand Bazaar, feast like kings with locals at a fisherman's wharf, and follow stories of the Byzantine Empire at the ancient wall, St. Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. To escape the high-pitched city bustle, we board a boat on the churning Bosphorus, gaining a view of the Bridge of Galata and the elegant Dolmabahce Palace.

West Turkey — For half the price of visiting Greece, Turkey offers as much intrigue, history, sun, friendliness and scrumptous food. We visit spectacular Greek ruins at Ephesus and Aphrodisias and ancient hot springs at Pamukkale. Viewers can travel up the Meander River, visit a Turkish bath, eat Turkish pizza and get tips on staying healthy in foreign countries. An exotic culture to most Americans, Turkey feels more familiar as we discover a blend of ancient and modern in nomadic life, whirling Dervishes, and strong Muslim beliefs.

Central Turkey — Before heading for the modern capital, Ankara, we folk dance through tea-soaked, hospitable and engaging ancient villages in central Turkey. From geological wonders in Cappadocia's byzantine cave churches and cliff dwellings to the red pottery kilns of Avanos, friendly locals welcome visitors. The offer of good deals on camel rides and carpets fade near the unspoiled town of Guzelyurt. By the time we reach Ankara, the modern world is back. We learn about Ataturk — called the father of the Turks — who led Turkey from a sultan's empire to the updated scene of the 1920's.

Eastern Turkey — After a Mount Ararat sunrise, we visit Abraham's 4000-year-old home town, tour one of the world's biggest dams, cheer on grease wrestlers, meet the gods atop Mount Nemrut, and dance with new friends in a village.

Israel — We visit the new and the old Israel. Starting in Jerusalem and going on to the ancient fortress of Masada and the Sea of Galilee, we see Israel's past unfold at historic and religious sites. In Jerusalem, the Holy Land's capitol city, Jews pray at the Wailing Wall, Muslims worship at the Dome of the Rock and Christians at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Near chic, crowded Tel Aviv we stop to enjoy a Mediterranean beach and our visit ends too soon, as we watch fishermen on the Sea of Galilee.

Egypt — Egypt offers a visual potpourri of high energy and ancient mystery — from chaotic, urban Cairo to the silent temples and tombs near Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. We explore pharaohs' pyramids at Giza and gold treasures at Cairo's National Museum. Rick has fun with the inevitable camel ride. Each stop on the route leaves an indelible imprint: a colorful, medieval bazaar, a feluca sail down the Nile, a bike ride through the countryside and the ancient Temple of Karnak.

Corinth - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Between the Greek mainland and Peloponnes are the extensive ruins of ancient Corinth. Of the city’s former magnificence, only a few Doric columns of the 6th century Apollo Temple have survived. Due to its favourable location and fertile soil, three thousand years ago during the Neolithic period the first settlements were established in this region.

146 B.C. marked the end of Classical Corinth. The Romans devastated and plundered the ancient metropolis and enslaved its people and for almost a hundred years the ruins were uninhabited but, due to Caesar, new life returned to the city.

Surrounded by the pure, wild beauty of Nature, the ruins blend harmoniously into the magnificence of the surrounding landscape. From a medieval fortress, in the distance there are the remains of an ancient Corinthian port and even today shipping plays an important role in the everyday life of this ancient city.

Delphi - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Set in the picturesque, deeply fissured hillside of the Parnass, Delphi is where over 2000 years ago the Greeks sought spiritual advice from the god Apollo, who they believed spoke to them through an oracle.

Delphi was home to the Amphictyonic League, the most important of the Greek city states, and was also the location of the Pythian Games. Two eagles dispatched by Zeus from the end of the world met at the foot of Mount Parnassus in Delphi, thus creating the ‘omphalos’ or ‘navel of the world’. It was hoped that the priestess attendant at the site, Pythia, would impart the will of God which she expressed through her ‘raging mouth’, in ecstasy.

This idyllic location, which includes the holy temple of Athena Pronaia, has retained its mystique right up to the present day.

ATHENS TRAVEL VIDEOS

19.

Athens - Travel Video - DVD.  Vista Point.  26 Minutes.

Athens is a lively city set in historic surroundings.
Likavittós is a two hundred and seventy-seven meter-high limestone rock that dominates the city. It towers up above
several buildings and on its summit there’s a small chapel. The capital of Greece has a long history. It was founded three thousand five hundred years ago and had its golden age during Greek Antiquity under the democratic rule of Perikles. At that time the symbol of one Europe’s most influential cultures was created, Greek’s national sanctuary, the Acropolis.

It took nine years to build the great temple of the goddess Athene, The Parthenon, that was completed in 438 B.C. Unique among all other Greek temples, with its imposing appearance and artistic decoration this temple signified the great influence and power of ancient Athens. With its striking majestic appearance and timeless elegance it was more magnificent than any other building in Greece.

Six female figures, the Karyatides, support the southern hall of the Ionic Temple of Erechtheion that stands on sacred ground close to the main temple. Since the beginning of the 4th century the mythical kings Kekrops and Erechtheu were worshiped here until the city’s subsequent decline. Legend has it that during a contest between the gods Poseidon left the imprint of his trident on a rock upon which Athene created an olive tree. Throughout its history the temple served many purposes and the Turks, somewhat disrespectfully, transformed the Erechtheion into a harem.

The evening sun descends slowly across the ruins of Ancient Greece. The marble of the temple shines golden as though to thank the gods for creating this remarkable city. A city in which both antiquity and the present unite: a symbol of the Occident.

Acropolis - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
For more than 2,500 years a landmark and symbol of one of the most influential European cultures, the Acropolis, has towered above the rooftops of Athens.

It took nine years to build the great temple of the goddess Athene, known as The Parthenon, that was completed in 438 B.C. Unique among all other Greek temples, with its imposing appearance and artistic decoration, the Parthenon signified the great influence and power of ancient Athens.

Just a few metres from the Athens Temple, the Acropolis Museum contains numerous outstanding archaeological treasures that have been discovered in this vicinity. The majority of the exhibits date back to the 5th and 6th centuries, a richly golden time in the culture of ancient Greece. Since 1878, the museum has exhibited several ancient sculptures of the Acropolis in addition to various well preserved sections of the Parthenon’s magnificent frieze.

Throughout the centuries, the temples and buildings that are situated on Acropolis Rock have had an amazing influence on both artists and architects alike. The unique cultural value of these imposing ruins has once again become of vital significance in the home town of the Olympic Games. Thus, the ancient Acropolis will continue to be the ‘Cradle of Occidental Culture’ and will illuminate the night sky of Athens forever.

Crete - Travel Video - DVD.  Vista Point.  26 Minutes.

Crete is an island of light, the ‘cradle of Zeus’, with sun-drenched coastlines, picturesque villages and majestic mountains. No wonder that even the gods felt comfortable in this wonderful region of Greece.

Heraklion is the capital of the largest and most southerly Greek islands, on which a highly developed culture has existed for 4000 years. The Venetians built massive fortresses to defend the island against the Turks The Gortys Ruins are reminders of the moving history of an old town that was prosperous in the 5th century B.C. when Gortys became the most powerful town of the Messara Plain and throughout the olive groves between the hills can be found the scattered remnants of its past cultural riches.

With its beautiful sandy beaches, Matala is a popular coastal resort to which many come simply to experience the glorious sunsets in addition to the rich archaeological discoveries of the Phaistos Palace.

Agia Galini is a quiet fishing village that, during the summer months, is a lively bathing resort on Crete’s south coast. However, it has managed to maintain its original atmosphere with fishing boats in the harbour and crystal clear water lapping the shoreline, plus the allure of its tavernas and restaurants.

The precipitous rocky coastline of Agia Roumeli is also the starting point of the Samaria Gorge that is regarded as the largest in Europe. Eighteen kilometers long and in places up to a hundred and fifty kilometres wide, the gorge stretches from the Libyan Sea right up to the heights of Lefka Ori.

Picturesque harbours, ancient treasures, lost legends and Greek hospitality: who could possibly ask for more?

Agia (Crete) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
The ancient Minoan site of Agia Triáda on the Greek island of Crete owes its name to a nearby church that dates back to the 14th century. In many ways the settlement is quite unique as its architecture does not conform to traditional Minoan design.

In contrast to the much larger structure of the Phaistos Palace that is situated only a few kilometres away, the site has revealed an abundance of fascinating treasures.

Agia Triáda’s famous objects and works of art are contained in the Egypt Museum in Íraklion. In around 1400 B.C. the Minoan culture came to an end and the exact reason for the decline of this advanced civilization will probably never be known.

The Minoan culture reached its peak between 1700 and 1350 B.C. when palaces, country houses and settlements were established throughout the length and breadth of the island. Due to the completion of a well thought out road system and the further development of existing harbours, the foundation of an extremely successful trading system was created.

For thousands of years the Minoan ruins lay covered by the sands of time and it was only as a result of excavations around the neighbouring Phaistos Palace that brought about their discovery.

The Mycenean civilisation replaced that of the Minoans and they subsequently constructed their own buildings above the walls of the once splendid and flourishing settlement of Agia Triáda.

Arkadi (Crete) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
On the Greek island of Crete, 23 kilometers south east of Rethimnon on a small plateau at the foot of the Psiloritis Mountains, is the Arkádi Monastery, a building that contains a moving history of the island’s struggle for liberty against the Turks.

The remote monastery was built in 1587 at the time of the ‘Cretian Renaissance’ and in November, 1866, nine hundred and sixty-four Cretians secured themselves within its walls in protest against the continued Turkish occupation of the island.

Fifteen thousand Turkish solders assailed the monastery and an unequal fight began. One of the monastery’s brave defender’s set a fuse to the monastery’s ammunition store which resulted in a massive explosion killing both attackers and defenders alike.

Although the Arkádi Monastery doesn’t contain any spectacular works of art, it possesses its own unique atmosphere and one that recalls a courageous struggle for the liberty of Crete.

Gortyn (Crete) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
South of the centre of Crete are the remains of a ruined basilica, the Christian remains of Gortys’ former glory.

For the construction of the basilica in the 6th and the 7th centuries many of the architectural elements of the surrounding ancient ruins were also used. During construction there was no lack of decorative old capitals, as Gortys was once one of the most important cities in Crete.

Gortys became famous among archaeologists due to a sensational discovery within the walls of a nearby Roman Odeion. Twelve stone blocks that bore inscriptions from the Classical period of around 500 years B.C. were built into the wall of a small amphitheatre by its Roman creators. The stones contained sections of the great legal code of Gortys. In using this material the Romans managed to preserve one of the best kept legal texts of ancient Greece.

Although nature has buried many of its treasures, even today a few magnificent statues still manage to reflect the former size and wealth of the city of Gortys.

Heraklion (Crete) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Iraklion The picturesque harbor of Iraklion welcomes those arriving by ship at Crete’s greatest city that is also the fourth largest harbor in Greece.

In common with much of the history of this city, the imposing castle located at the harbour dates back to Venetian times and was built between 1523 and 1540.

Today the archaeological search for ruins from the time of the ancient Minoers has become increasingly more important. In addition, work on the ruins that date from the earlier history of the town, when it was ruled by Turkey, has also gained momentum.

The remains that date back to Venetian rule, such as some sections of the massive town wall and the Loggia, are part of the town’s most well preserved buildings. Built between 1626 and 1628, with its classic beauty the Venetian Loggia is one of the city’s most beautiful buildings. During the 17th century the aristocracy used this building as a kind of social meeting place, a club house and celebration hall. Today, it is considered to be a fine example of traditional Venetian architecture.

The Morosini Fountain dates back to Venice’s prosperous years. It was once part of the town’s urban water supply and was named after an important civil servant.

Although the city has moved with the times and developed into an important centre of tourism, it has managed to retain a significant part of its history. Thus the old town of Iraklion owes its unique flair to the splendid architectural relics of the Venetians.

Knossos (Crete) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Around 7 kilometers southeast of Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete, is the Palace of Knossós, the largest of all the Minoan palaces, located on the picturesque, partly tree-covered Kefala Hill.

As parts of the palace have been rebuilt, its former splendour makes a visit to Knossós even more worthwhile. At the beginning of the 20th century, large scale excavations of the former Minoan palace were carried out under the leadership of Englishman, Arthur Evans. In just three years, Evans and his team of archaeologists excavated an area of almost 20,000 square metres.

Visitors can move around the newly built areas of the palace and imagine the former life of the Minoans. Almost all of the palace’s 1200 rooms and splendid inner courtyards are asymmetrical which is in contrast to the subsequent Ancient Greek epochs of strict symmetrical architecture. As with other Minoan palaces in Phaistos and Malia, around 1700 B.C., the first palace in Knossós was destroyed by a devastating earthquake. Around 100 years later, the palace was rebuilt and was simply known as the ‘New Palace’. These buildings have also been referred to as the ‘Labyrinth of the Minotaurs’.

But if the legendary Minotaurs actually resided in the Palace of Knossós, it has yet to be confirmed by the world of archaeology!

Phaistos (Crete) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
The 4000 year old ruins of the Minoan Palace of Phaistos are scattered over a wide area of a picturesque hillside on the island of Crete.

The first archaeological excavations took place between 1900 and 1909 and it soon became evident that these ruins, as well as further discoveries of the Minoan Epoch that date from around 1900 B.C., were the remains of the first highly developed culture of Europe.

The multi-layered ruins and walls of the palace as they appear today are similar to the numerous cultural influences of ancient Crete. Libyan Megalith constructions with large limestone blocks combine with the wood, quarry stone and clay plaster of the semi-timbered buildings.

Unlike classic Greek architecture, the Minoan constructions are not dominated or influenced by strict symmetrical lines. The facades of the buildings were given little importance by the people of Crete who instead focused on comfort and luxury from within, a fact demonstrated by the discovery of baths and a highly developed drainage system.

No one could have foreseen that the once prosperous Minoan culture that left its traces in Phaistos would later be considered by historians to be the beginning of Europe’s cultural development.

CYCLADES ISLANDS TRAVEL VIDEOS

33.

Cyclades Islands - Travel Video - DVD.  Vista Point.  26 Minutes.

Otherwise known as The Pearls Of Greece, the Cyclades Islands are located in the heart of the South Aegean that flows around its former centre, the holy island of Delos. Of more than two hundred and twenty islands, only twenty-five are populated.

Situated in the centre of the Cyclades group of islands, Mykonos is a former pirate village and for some years has been a meeting place for artists, V.I.P.’s and the international glitterati.

Five old windmills dominate the picturesque bay of Mykonos. In earlier times the town’s millers supplied flour to soldiers, merchants and even pirates. A special attraction is the district of Little Venice, the style of its buildings serving as a reminder of when the Venetians took possession of the island.

Delos is known as the Pompeii of the Aegean and its deserted temples, public buildings, houses and streets still conjure up the atmosphere of this once-flourishing cultural and trading town.

On Naxos, the largest of the Greek islands, the Greek gods have created a masterpiece of nature with bubbling springs and gently-flowing streams, colourful fields and fertile valleys and an abundance of water, fruit and vegetables.

Santorini is the most southerly of the Cyclades islands and the location of the mythical lost island of Atlantis. It’s also a breathtaking island paradise of rock, lava, sea and light. The unique proportions of Santorini are due to a natural disaster that had a devastating effect when over 3,500 years ago a volcanic eruption sank most of the island beneath the sea.

Was it not the Greek god, Poseidon, who threw a handful of rocks onto the seabed that took root and created the Cyclades? It is no wonder that these dreamy islands are a place of myth and legend!

Delos (Cyclades Islands) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
During ancient times the Cyclades island of Delos was the flourishing centre of Greek culture.

Greece’s most extensive archaeological site covers the entire island and since 1872 has been frequented by countless archaeologists. Greek legend has it that this now-deserted island was the birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis.

Offering wonderful ocean views, the amphitheatre dates back to the third century B.C. and accommodated around 5500 spectators.

Not all of the island’s temples were dedicated to Greek gods and a particularly well-preserved sanctuary of the so-called ‘foreign gods’ formed part of a beautiful temple that was dedicated to the Egyptian goddess, Isis.

The lower plateaus on the western side of Kithos Hill contain numerous important cult sites. One of these sanctuaries was the centre of the Hera Cult, the Archaic Heraion, that established itself in 500 B.C.

Beautifully restored mosaics with the Phoenician symbol of the goddess Tanith decorate one of the most impressively furnished houses on the island, the House Of Dolphins.

The island’s ruins indicate its former cosmopolitan nature with its Egyptian, Italian, Phoenician and Jewish traders but due to the destruction of its buildings and the creation of new centers of trade elsewhere, Delos gradually became deserted.

DODECANESE ISLANDS TRAVEL VIDEOS

35.

Dodecanese Islands - Travel Video - DVD.  Vista Point.  26 Minutes.

Dodecanese is the name of a group of Greek islands that is located in the south east of the Aegean just off the Turkish coast. It warrants more than its name of ‘Twelve Islands’ as it contains more than nineteen inhabited and around fifty small uninhabited islands.

Kós is the green pearl of the Aegean, an historic oasis beneath the Greek sun. Not the largest of the Dodekannissa Islands but certainly one of its most fascinating. The capital of the island is Chora Kós. Following their arrival from Jerusalem in the 14th century, the Order Of The Knights Of Malta built a huge fortified complex in the town.

The city’s spacious square is surrounded by numerous buildings plus a museum and there are stone busts and statues of the Roman and Hellenistic eras that offer a good insight into the imaginative culture of a golden age. In the square a number of steps lead up to the city’s cathedral, the Agia Paraskevi. Not a large structure but extremely modern and well located in the centre of the town.

Only four kilometers from the city high in the Dikeos Mountains is one of the island’s most important sights, the Asklipion, an ancient hospital and sanctuary. It was here that the Greeks worshipped the god of medicine who was later named Äskulap by the Romans.

Rhodes was one of the most important cities in antiquity and fended off attack due to its impressively tall defensive walls. The mighty-looking fortification was in reality a deception as it was far from sturdy but its many defensive towers and pinnacles had their desired effect.

Lindos is the most beautiful village in Rhodes with Paulus Bay and an acropolis that is located high above the sea.

It was here that the sun was born and where the gods, knights and tourists have always sought good fortune and been captivated with the enchanting islands of the Dodekanissa.

KOS ISLAND TRAVEL VIDEOS

36.

Kos Island - Travel Video - DVD.  Vista Point.  26 Minutes.

Kós is an historic island oasis beneath the Greek sun. Not the largest of the Dodekannissa Islands but certainly one of its most fascinating, with endless sandy beaches and an ancient heritage.

The capital of the island is Chora Kós and for two thousand years it has been the nerve centre of the island. The city once suffered devastating earthquakes and the island was plagued by numerous invaders including the Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, the Knights of St. John and finally, the Turks.

The Platia Eleftherìas is the main square of today’s Kós and contains the Archaeological Museum that is housed in a futuristic looking Italian building that dates back to the 1930’s.

Four kilometres from the city high in the Dikeos Mountains is one of the island’s most important sights, the Asklipion, an ancient hospital and sanctuary.

A winding road leads to the village of Kéfalos that from below looks like a small fortified complex. Its white houses and narrow alleys are free of traffic and it’s as though time has stood still. Formerly a village of fishermen, agriculture is now the main source of income for the local people. Kéfalos has much historical significance as it was built on the ruins of the first capital of the island and Hypocrates was born here in 460 B.C.

Antimáchia Castle was built in the 13th century by the Venetians and later expanded by the Knights Of St. John. Its mighty external walls are most impressive but only a few cisterns and two small chapels remain.

Fascinating landscapes and the historic monuments of many époques make the Greek island of Kós a sparkling jewel of the Aegean.

THE ISLAND OF RHODES TRAVEL VIDEOS

37.

Rhodes - Travel Video - DVD.  Vista Point.  26 Minutes.

Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodekanissa, a group of Greek islands located in the south east of the Aegean just off the west coast of Turkey. Since antiquity its unique location has brought it both power and wealth.

On the northernmost tip of the island is the fascinating metropolis of Chora Ródos whose harbour entrance was once adorned by the Seventh Wonder Of The World, the Colossus Of Rhodes. But the legendary lighthouse has long since gone and today excursion boats and yachts crowd the island’s former trading harbour that has a rich and dramatic past.

Byzantines, Arabs, The Knights Of The Order Of St. John, Ottomans and Italians, each one influenced the ever-changing history of the island that was first settled in 400 B.C.

At the city’s highest point is the huge palace of the Grand Master, the monumental junction of the Street Of The Knights and the command post of the Christian order. The Grand Master was the highest dignitary of the Order Of The Knights Of Malta, a lifetime office.

The Street Of The Knights leads from the Grand Master Palace down the hill to the Hospital, a unique ensemble of Gothic medieval architecture set amid the Mediterranean. The main buildings of the various groups of knights were erected along the main street and it was here that the knights met and conferred according to their membership of various European regions.

Rhodes is an island steeped in history as well as the calm lifestyle of the Mediterranean.

Rhodes - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
According to legend the Colossus Of Rhodes once towered above the picturesque harbour of Rhodes, a Greek island located off the south west coast of Asia Minor. The huge statue was one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Under the rule of the Knights of the Order of St. John, the Palace Of The Grand Masters, that is located next to the Knight’s Hospital, was the most important building on the island for more than two hundred years.

The Palace Of The Grand Masters was not only the administrative centre of the Order of St. John, it was also of great social importance. Many years previously the Knights’ Road was the most important street in the medieval city and it was there that most of the Knights and Orders resided. Marble reliefs depicting the knights’ coats of arms adorn the impressive and proud facades of the buildings.

Ever since the Knights of the Order of St. John took over the city Rhodes has been dominated by various towers. Most of them were used for defensive purposes while others are the remains of Turkish occupation.

When the sun sets above the Aegean, Rhodes is revealed in all of its magical and historic glory.

Lindos (Island of Rhodes) - Travel Video - DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Its unique location is not the sole reason that the picturesque town of Lindos has become known as one of the most fascinating locations on the Greek island of Rhodes. Its narrow, intimate lanes are flanked by centuries-old houses, the former residences of captains, ship-owners and wealthy traders.

During the Ottoman period Lindos was one of the country’s most important ports and it still has a strong association with the sea as do the cultural treasures of this enchanting town.

Lindos’ famous landmark, the Acropolis, is located above the town. The Acropolis was important not only for those of ancient Greek religious belief but also for those of the Christian faith. According to legend the apostle Paul came ashore beneath the temple in 51 A.D.

Its shoreline location as well as the beauty of the town plus its combination of medieval buildings and ancient ruins all add up to why Lindos is such a popular destination.

Lindos was once a great maritime power that possessed its own colonies in the Mediterranean and the enchanting atmosphere of this special place can still be experienced today.
