Egypt: Gift of the Nile - Travel Video.  DVD.  A Doug Jones Travelog.  78 Minutes.
Journey Through an Amazing Land of Mystery

The Pyramids - The Sphinx - Cairo -
The Temples of Luxor - The Nile - Karnak - Abu Simbel - Aswan - Alexandria - The Suez Canal - Mosques - The Treasures of King Tut

Welcome to Egypt

Join Doug Jones, one of America's premier travelog producers, on an intriguing journey through a mysterious land.

In the 5th Century B.C., Herodotus, the Greek father of history, made a journey across the Mediterranean to the ancient land of Egypt. He marveled at the pyramids, gazed across the lifeless desert then looked at the fertile Nile Valley and made the statement "Egypt is the gift of the Nile."

On the basis of this theme, Doug Jones takes you through this exotic and timeless land.

See the pyramids and the sphinx and hear the story of their construction. Visit the farms of Egypt and see how time has truly stood still. Wander through the Valley of the Kings, visit Luxorand Karnak and see archeological wonders that are unrivaled on earth. Feel the pulse of the bazaars, visit the great museums, journey into the desert to visit a Coptic monastery and explore the great mosques of Cairo.

Visit Alexandria 's cotton mills, see Cairo 's belly dancers, visit the Oasis of the Fayum, the Suez Canal, the Aswan High Dam, the Temples of Abu Simbel and see archeological digs in progress as well as temple restorations.

Your journey to this intriguing land will conclude with the story of Howard Carter's 1921 discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamen. The dazzle of the gold---2,448 pounds of solid gold form the inner coffin -- will leave a lasting memory of your visit to this magical land.

"The quality of the Doug Jones' Travelogs is first- rate." - The Los Angeles Times

"Doug Jones' films show the hand of a master photographer." - The Winnipeg Free Press

"This young filmmaker proved to be a lively, engaging, and expert storyteller." - Colorado Springs Gazette - Telegraph.

In the Land of the Pharaohs - Travel Video.  DVD Cosmos Global Documentaries.  52 Minutes.
The Pyramids Of Gizeh are undoubtedly one of the most impressive and famous historic sites of ancient Egypt, the land of the Pharaohs, a land whose treasures are still, more than four thousand years after their construction, remarkable. A total of 2.3 million stone blocks form the largest pyramid, the Cheops, that was built in around 2560 B.C. on an elevated plateau on the edge of the western desert.

The huge contours of the pyramids of Gizeh still dominate Cairo’s surrounding landscape. Their dimensions symbolize timeless power and in red shining colours the sky announces the fall of dusk and highlights the dramatic, magical beauty of these monuments.

The Step Pyramid of King Djoser rises up almost seventy metres above the ground and it was the world’s first monumental stone building. Thus the Step Pyramid is often referred to as the ‘mother of all pyramids’. A narrow maze-like corridor leads from the outside world into the dark depths of the pyramid and the Pharaoh´s tomb.

The flowering period of Thebes began in the Middle Empire when it became the new capital and lasted up until around the 14th century B.C. when Memphis regained its importance and influence. Today Thebes is closely connected with this town of death along the western shore of the Nile and the legendary Valley Of The Kings.

In 1922 the discovery of the royal tomb of Tutenkhamen by British archaeologist, Howard Carter, was particularly important. After five years of excavation the scientists were successful and the spectacular treasures surpassed their highest expectations.

Although Tutenkhamen died at the tender age of nineteen, his rule thus having little historical significance, the treasures in his tomb made him one of the most famous kings of Ancient Egypt. Today his legendary sarcophagus, that is made entirely of gold, is exhibited in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Up until now more than seventy tombs have been found in the neighbouring Valley Of The Queens. Princes who died at an early age were also buried there and the grave of Nefertari, the wife of Ramses the Second, is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the valley.

The Land of the Pharaohs is a fantastic and colourful journey into the intriguing depths of ancient history.

Secret Egypt: A Trance Journey to the Heart and Soul of the Egyptian People - Travel Video.  VHS.  Mystic Fire.  Secret Egypt is your passport to the timeless rituals of a culture where the fires of an ancient wisdom still burn, a musical and visual experience, an impressionistic journey delicately infused with the ecstatic Sufi poetry of Rumi.
Join the dance of surrender- roam the land of the Nile as an invisible witness, accompanied by exquisite photography and hypnotic rhythms and melodies that soon become eerily familiar. Healing trance dances take place in the ancient tombs behind the Great Pyramid, ecstatic song and dance are performed in tents and on street corners, and horses dance to the beat of joyous music.
Long ago, the rhythms of black Africa slowly moved up the Nile, merging with those of the Bedouins, who drifted in from the surrounding desert and were absorbed into the Arab culture of Islam. Out of this blend, land of mystery was formed where trance still survives as a way to merge with the cosmic beat of the universe- a way to heal, to release
emotion and awaken the spirit.

Rick Steves' Greece, Turkey, Israel, and Egypt 2000-2007 - Travel Video.  DVD.

Eight Shows: 4 hours, closed captioned, NTSC format, all region compatible.

Here's where we'll take you...

Athens and the Peloponnese — Viewers will get familiar with the old port of Nafplio and explore the Peloponnese Peninsula before plunging into frenetic, sprawling Athens. They'll look at the ruins of Olympia, the best preserved ancient theater at Epidauros and the ancient capital of Mycenae. Then, seeing beyond the crowded streets of Athens, we return to the city's incredible historic core. Our journey to ancient Greece means climbing to the majestic Acropolis, visiting the National Archeological Museum and exploring a centuries-old market. Also, we sample retsina wine, eat scrumptious Greek specialties, learn a Greek dance in the Plaka and sleep in the old town.

Greek Islands — The Greek Islands' sunny climate, great beaches and relaxed culture attracts travelers from all corners. Island hopping on the Aegean ferries, we visit touristy, exotic Santorini (starting with an island bus tour), ride a motorbike around Samos, and hang out on the barely-known island of Lipsi where we sample the local cuisine. We stroll on an out-of-the-way black sand beach. Other quiet moments include visiting peaceful Spiliani Monastery, the ancient ruins of Akroteri and the Temple of Hera. With tips from the tourist office, we find offbeat and fun ways to island hop and our own picturesque places to stay.

Istanbul — At Europe's gateway to Asia, we explore the historic, crowded city of Istanbul. We get lost in the Grand Bazaar, feast like kings with locals at a fisherman's wharf, and follow stories of the Byzantine Empire at the ancient wall, St. Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. To escape the high-pitched city bustle, we board a boat on the churning Bosphorus, gaining a view of the Bridge of Galata and the elegant Dolmabahce Palace.

West Turkey — For half the price of visiting Greece, Turkey offers as much intrigue, history, sun, friendliness and scrumptious food. We visit spectacular Greek ruins at Ephesus and Aphrodisias and ancient hot springs at Pamukkale. Viewers can travel up the Meander River, visit a Turkish bath, eat Turkish pizza and get tips on staying healthy in foreign countries. An exotic culture to most Americans, Turkey feels more familiar as we discover a blend of ancient and modern in nomadic life, whirling Dervishes, and strong Muslim beliefs.

Central Turkey — Before heading for the modern capital, Ankara, we folk dance through tea-soaked, hospitable and engaging ancient villages in central Turkey. From geological wonders in Cappadocia's byzantine cave churches and cliff dwellings to the red pottery kilns of Avanos, friendly locals welcome visitors. The offer of good deals on camel rides and carpets fade near the unspoiled town of Guzelyurt. By the time we reach Ankara, the modern world is back. We learn about Ataturk — called the father of the Turks — who led Turkey from a sultan's empire to the updated scene of the 1920's.

Eastern Turkey — After a Mount Ararat sunrise, we visit Abraham's 4000-year-old home town, tour one of the world's biggest dams, cheer on grease wrestlers, meet the gods atop Mount Nemrut, and dance with new friends in a village.

Israel — We visit the new and the old Israel. Starting in Jerusalem and going on to the ancient fortress of Masada and the Sea of Galilee, we see Israel's past unfold at historic and religious sites. In Jerusalem, the Holy Land's capitol city, Jews pray at the Wailing Wall, Muslims worship at the Dome of the Rock and Christians at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Near chic, crowded Tel Aviv we stop to enjoy a Mediterranean beach and our visit ends too soon, as we watch fishermen on the Sea of Galilee.

Egypt — Egypt offers a visual potpourri of high energy and ancient mystery — from chaotic, urban Cairo to the silent temples and tombs near Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. We explore pharaohs' pyramids at Giza and gold treasures at Cairo's National Museum. Rick has fun with the inevitable camel ride. Each stop on the route leaves an indelible imprint: a colorful, medieval bazaar, a feluca sail down the Nile, a bike ride through the countryside and the ancient Temple of Karnak.

EGYPT'S ARCHITECTURAL WONDERS

22.

Abu Mena (A Christian Monument) - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Abu Mena In Egypt, near to the Mariut See, is the most respected Christian pilgrimage destination of Abu Mena. Today, only its ruins remain. For more than 1700 years, the Kopts worshipped the holy martyr, Mena and in his honour, a Christian monastery was established here during the 3rd century.

Due to the construction of several canals and also the distribution of water from the River Nile, the region is gradually being transformed into fertile agricultural land. However, Egypt’s water supply system threatens to destroy the ruins of this historic sand-covered pilgrimage site.

On the excavation site, the finely crafted stone reliefs of Abu Mena’s submerged architecture offer a titillating promise of what lies beneath. Once a small town, today only a tranquil expanse of ruins and eroded walls are evidence of this once flourishing and lively centre for the pilgrims of early Christianity. The foundations and dimensions of its churches can still be discerned today.

Should the ruins of this ancient place of pilgrimage be allowed to sink beneath the desert forever, the loss of this unique early Christian monument would be inestimable.

Abu Simbel - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Due to its remote location close to today’s Sudanese border in Southern Egypt, Abu Simbel was unknown until 1813 when only the heads of the temple’s colossal statues were visible above the sand. The breathtaking impression of its exterior also extends within where a magnificent hall with two rows of column-like statues leads into the depths of the temple. Abu Simbel is famous for its precise orientation toward the sun. Twice a year, the first rays of the morning sun shine down the entire length of the temple chamber and illuminate the rear wall of its innermost shrine. Various portrayals and descriptions of Egyptian gods can be found throughout, many of them portrayed with animal heads, such as hawks.

Due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam, Abu Simbel has been relocated from its original position on the banks of the Nile. Thanks to an international effort by UNESCO, and at a cost of 42 million dollars, the surface of the hill and the inner chambers were sectioned and reconstructed 64m higher up the valley, inside a concrete dome. The smaller Hathor Temple, dedicated to the wife of Ramses II, Princess Nefertari, was also saved in this way.

Today, the great temples of Abu Simbel rise once again in all their former glory.

Alabaster Mosque - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Cairo’s Alabaster Mosque dominates the skyline of the largest city in Africa. The imposing building is situated in the middle of the Citadel, a prominent fortress that was built in the 19th century.

In 1830, Egyptian King Mohammad Ali Pasha ordered the construction of a mosque to strict Ottoman design. It is no accident that the external appearance of the Mosque is similar to that of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. The minarets of the Alabaster Mosque rise 84 metres into the sky and have become an integral part of Cairo’s silhouette.

The impressive interior of the building is illuminated by an enormous chandelier, a gift from the French King, Louis Philippe The Fifth. Today, the light of the original three hundred and sixty-five oil lamps is powered by electricity, yet the great building still possesses a sublime atmosphere. The brilliance of the light augments the dimensions of the mosque to a breathtaking degree and the ceiling of the great prayer hall is over fifty metres high.

Beneath the central cupola is the dignified tomb of King Mohammed Ali. The royal casket is made of the finest Italian marble and is decorated with Turkish motifs.

Today, the Alabaster Mosque is considered to be one of the most beautiful examples of Egyptian Islamic-Ottoman architecture of the 19th century. It has lost none of its former shining magnificence.

Aswan - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
From a distance Aswan appears to be a small, rather idyllic and sleepy city but around two hundred and eighty thousand people live on Egypt’s southern border.

It is impossible not to be captivated by the pulsating life of the mysterious and strange streets of Aswan. Even today the colorful displays of goods in the souks are dominated by the historical South African caravan trade. The city is well known for its traditional bazaars. Depending on the time of day, everyday life is relatively calm and interrupted only by the hectic hustle and bustle of the traders.

Aswan is synonymous with immense dams. In 1902 the first dam on the Nile was completed by the British. The Soviet Union sponsored the construction of an even larger dam.  In 1971 the Sadd El-Ali Dam transformed the appearance of the Nile forever.

Dendera (Temple Complex) - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
On the desert border between Luxor and Abydos is the impressive Hathor Temple of Dendera, one of ancient Egypt’s most important cities. The existence of the sanctuary for the goddess of love, music, dance and joy dates back to the Early Ancient Empire of 2000 years B.C.

Facts relating to the later extension of the temple area ordered by the kings of the 12th Dynasty have also been preserved. Over the years the deciphering of numerous hieroglyphs has revealed numerous ancient fertility rites and also a comprehensive impression of Dendera.

The design of the Hathor Temple originates from Late Ptolomaic times. Construction of the temple began in 30 B.C when the country was under Roman rule. The emperors Augustus and Tiberius finally completed the temple in 14 A.D.

Architecturally, the monumental sanctuary of Dendera very much resembles other Egyptian temples in Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo. Being the last sovereign of the Ptolomaians, legendary Egyptian queen, Cleopatra, has been immortalized on the southern outer wall of the temple.

The remarkable history of Dendera as an important place of worship can be traced back to a period that extends from antiquity to the golden years of the Roman Empire and to the roots of Christianity.

The Great Pyramid (Giza Cheops Pyramid) Egypt- Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
The Cheops Pyramid has existed for 4,500 years, the largest of three pyramids close to Cairo, beyond the suburbs of Gizeh.

Completed in around 2,590 B.C, it took over twenty years to construct this huge monument on the edge of the desert.

Although lacking the technology of today, amazingly, the pyramids were constructed with great architectural and astronomical precision. At a height of 128 metres, the Cheops Pyramid consists of more than two and a half million limestone blocks, each one of which weighs an average two and a half tons.

As though standing guard, the Sphinx – a prone lion with a human head - has always been a symbol of mystique. It was carved from a single rock and measures 21 metres high and 74 metres long. The Cheops Pyramid is the most extraordinary tomb of all time, the tomb of a living god. and the most wonderful of the world’s seven wonders of Antiquity!

Edfu - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.

Mighty walls protect the interior of the beautiful Edfu Temple in the legendary land of the Pharaohs, a holy place that was constructed according to ancient Egyptian tradition, built by the Ptolemaics between 237 and 57 B.C.

Although the Edfu Temple is among one of Egypt’s earlier temples, its architecture, with an inner courtyard and magnificent columns, reflects the design of far older temples. The interior of the temple contains a huge array of hieroglyphics that describe religious legends, while others tell of ancient mythological tales that involve war and battle.

In the temple’s holiest place is the altar that held the Sun Barque and also a solid granite shrine which dates back to the 30th dynasty.

Karnak - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
The Egyptian temples of Karnak are located 3 kilometres north of Luxor.

The awe-inspiring Avenue Of The Sphinxes leads to the entrance of this magnificent location. It was here during more than two thousand years that the kings of numerous epochs had their final resting places.

Artistically carved hieroglyphs and paintings can be found on all the buildings in Karnak. They relate to various gods and also to the royal builders of the respective temples. Pinedjem, the high priest of Amun in Thebes and Pharaoh of the 21st Dynasty, has been immortalized by a fifteen metre high colossus.

The impressive courtyard of Ramses The Third’s temple is flanked on three sides with imposing Osiris pillars that are adorned with hieroglyphs that depict the Pharaoh in his finest jubilee clothes.

A hundred and thirty four columns, each with a circumference of ten metres, once supported the roof of the ‘Great Column Hall’ that has long since disappeared. Like a wonder of the world this hall contains each of the breathtaking twenty metre high columns. Even today, hieroglyphs cover a large part of the gigantic columns that originally stood in the darkness of the main temple and were covered by a massive ceiling.

Due to its beautiful buildings and art treasures, the temple area of Karnak is a much-prized and unique jewel of ancient Egyptian history and culture.

Kom Ombo - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Today, the Egyptian city of Kom Ombo has approximately 70,000 inhabitants. Its outstanding double temple has made it famous throughout the world.

Today, the mummified remains of ancient Nile crocodiles are displayed within a chapel that was once dedicated to the goddess, Hathor. These great reptiles were worshipped as sacred animals. One half of the double temple belonged to the crocodile-headed deity, Sobek, the son of Hathor.

Today’s Kom Ombo Temple was divided into two asymmetric parts by its Ptolemaic builders. Within the right section of the building, Sobek was worshipped, while the left half was dedicated to Haroeris.

The external surrounding wall of the temple contains several strange pictures and reliefs including portrayals of early medical instruments. A kind of medicine cupboard was carved into the stone. It shows highly developed medical implements, among them a variety of surgical instruments and even forceps. The profession of doctor was popular and widespread throughout ancient Egypt. However, the Gods were also called upon as soon as there was illness as it was believed that medicine alone could not provide a cure.

Images of numerous Egyptian rulers adorn the walls. Queen Cleopatra, the legendary last Ptolemaic sovereign, was also immortalized here. Outside the temple there is a “Birth House” next to the small Hathor Chapel. The Mammisi contains the remarkable portrayal of a nursing mother. During the Ptolemaic period each temple contained a Mammisi that was decorated with portrayals and hieroglyphs. Here, the birth of the children of the gods was celebrated.

Due to the ancient relics and the double temple of Kom Ombo we have been able to gain an even greater understanding of Egypt’s fascinating past.

Memphis and Sakkara - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Memphis &Sakkara Around 2900 B.C., when Upper and Lower Egypt became one Great Empire, the Pharaohs declared Memphis, which lies in the southern Nile Delta, as their capital city.

During its golden years in the second millennium B.C., Memphis extended 15 km, from Gizeh to Sakkara. Up until the time of the Roman Empire, this ancient city’s former buildings had been constructed from air-dried bricks and therefore, due to this process, sadly did not survive the years. Granite and limestone were used solely for its Temples, Palaces And Statues. The frightening and dismissive gesture of the Sphinx was meant to frighten away grave robbers and guard the Necropolis, the place of the dead. Its lion’s body and human head symbolize courage and mental prowess.

Apart from Gizeh, Sakkara, in Lower Egypt, was an important city dedicated to the dead. The mother of all pyramids lies here, Pharaoh Djoser's Step Pyramid, which dates back to the year 2600 B.C.

For almost 5000 years these stones have survived the forces of nature and who knows what future excavations may reveal from the sands of the Egyptian desert, sands that are not only of time but which held the hopes of the pharaohs and created among the richest treasures known to mankind.

Philae - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Philae The Temple Of Philae lies on a small island on the river Nile, just a few kilometers away from the Egyptian city of Aswan. The construction of the Aswan Dam meant that the holy island of Philae was under threat from the waters of the Nile. However, due to a major international rescue operation, its temples and numerous buildings were relocated to the island of Gelkia.

The great Isis Temple Of Philae is acknowledged as one of the most well preserved Egyptian holy places dating from Ptolemaic times and some of its foundations are believed to derive from far older religious buildings. Next to the smaller Hathor Temple, fourteen magnificent columns and capitals rise majestically into the sky.

The ‘Nilometer’ was reassembled on Gelkia. This device was the official measurement system for Egyptian taxes. Thus, the level of taxes was closely associated with the water level of the Nile.

Egyptian life was dominated by the Nile and thus the foundation of the development of ancient Egyptian culture was due to its life-giving presence.

Thebes - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Thebes is the legendary necropolis on the Nile’s western shore. Two impressive 18m high Colossus Of Memnos watch over the entrance. It is here that The Valley of the Kings is located. Apart from the Pyramids of Gizeh, this is the most famous location in Egypt.

More than 60 graves have been discovered in the necropolis, including that of the great king, Ramses I. The first Egyptian ruler, Thutmosis I, was buried in the Valley Of The Kings. Prior to this, Amanophis I had prepared a secret grave in nearby rocks. In addition to the royal burial places, more then 500 private graves of priests, aristocrats and civil servants that date back from between the 11th and 26th Dynasties, have also been discovered here.

In contrast to the royal graves, the portrayals and hieroglyphics that are contained in the burial places of the middle classes contain worldly objects. The everyday life of ancient Egypt is illustrated in exquisite detail. In ancient times, it was believed that the addition of hieroglyphics on tomb walls and artistically designed reliefs comforted the dead on their journey through the underworld.

Close by is the Valley of the Queens where more than 70 tombs have been discovered. Apart from royal queens, numerous dead princes were also buried in this part of the necropolis, such as the son of Ramses III.

The work of the archaeologists has not yet been completed on this site and so it is quite likely that this scared place will one day reveal more of its splendid and mysterious treasures.

CAIRO

Cairo - Travel Video.  DVD Vista Point.  26 Minutes.
Cairo is a world metropolis and tantamount to being an open-air museum. The Nile divides it in two and the centre of the city contains modern shops and office buildings in close proximity to medieval churches and ancient mosques.

The Khan El Khalili Bazaar is like something from a bygone age and where the Orient combines with the Middle Ages, A Thousand And One Nights amid Islamic Cairo. Goods inspired by pharaohs Tutenkhamen and Nofretete are in constant demand and it’s where haggling is the norm. The bazaar is a colourful place with smoking hookahs, exotic carpets and musical instruments as well as a huge array of herbs and spices.

Abu Serga is the city’s oldest church and dates back to Fatimaic times. It was built on the ruins of an even older church in the Coptic district of Cairo. The three-aisled basilica was founded by Roman Christians at the end of the 4th century.

Built in 1902, the Egyptian Museum’s one hundred and fifty thousand exhibits amount to being one of the greatest historical collections in the world. When both the Greek and Roman civilisations had reached the zenith of their power, Egypt already had a history that dated back almost three thousand years.

In 1830 King Mohammed Ali had a mosque built and named it after himself but it is now more commonly known as the Alabaster Mosque. It was eighteen years in construction and was built on the site of a former Mameluckan Palace.

Egypt and its capital of Cairo is the oldest cultural land on Earth. A country that impresses with both its five thousand years of history and lively modern spirit.

Cairo - Travel Video.  DVDGlobal Treasures.  10 Minutes.
Cairo is a cultural melting pot and with a population of sixteen million it is the largest metropolis on the African continent. The Egyptian people refer to their capital city as Um Al Dunya, ‘Mother of the World’.

The history of the Sankt Sergius Church dates back to Abu Serga in the 5th century A.D. Legend has it that it was built on the site where the Holy Family once sought refuge. Thus, the richly decorated church is a popular Christian place of pilgrimage and is situated in Fustat in the middle of Koptic, the oldest district in Cairo.

The spacious Mamelucks Necropolis is unique within the Islamic world. Here, instead of conventional graves, entire houses were built for the dead. Within the necropolis the mosques and mausoleums of the Mameluck sovereigns are particularly interesting.

Built in 1900, each day the Egypt Museum attracts thousands of visitors who come to experience for themselves the legendary treasures of ancient history that comprise more than 120,000 different objects from 4500 years of Egyptian history, including the unique Tut-Ench-Amun exhibition.

Cairo really does strive to do justice to its name, Mother of the World. After all, it was this city that united the glory of the Pharaos with the Early Christian and Islamic worlds.

In the heart of the modern metropolis of Cairo is one of the greatest historical treasures in the world, the Egyptian Museum. The ‘Service of Egyptian Antiquities’ was founded in 1835 by Mohammed Ali and was created to prevent the further plundering and destruction of Egypt’s ancient treasures.

The museum was built in 1900 by the French architect, Marcel Dourgnon. Its Neo-Classical design still guards the priceless heritage of ancient Egypt and today more than 155,000 impressive archaeological discoveries that cover 4,500 years of Egyptian history are on display.

The museum’s unique collection of jewellery contains rings once worn by high priests and also amulets that belonged to Ramses the Second.

The fantastic grave offerings of Tutankamen who died at the age of nineteen cover almost half a floor of the museum and its importance is due to precious objects such as the golden mask of the young pharaoh that have assured its place among the world’s greatest museums.
